SATURDAY SURPRISE!!

kinich-kak-mo-pyramid.jpgmonastery.jpgbolonchoojol2.jpgburro1.jpg

Dear Family and Friends,

We are three weeks away from the big day and it’s time to reveal the SATURDAY GROUP surprise event!

We are supplying the transportation and the guide so no worries, just hop on the bus/van and enjoy the day!  Each event is a half day excursion, leaving at 11:00am and getting you back to your hotel by 4:00pm so you have some time to get ready for the evening’s events.  Please choose if you are in the mood for the “cultural tour” or the “adventure tour”.  Which one will you choose? (grin) Izamal, the magical ‘hill city”… Famous for the 123 pyramids spread throughout the town, or the “

Three

Culture

City”.  It is a fascinating mix of Mayan elements, colonial and modern buildings.  Tour the city by wagon or carriage, visit the Franciscan convent, shop at the wonderful Hecho a Mano store, a store of beautiful handcrafts, and eat at the Kinich-Kakmo “sun god” restaurant.   Izamal is 1 hour from

Merida, 25 minutes from the Hacienda.

http://www.yucatantoday.com/destinations/eng-izamal.htm Cuzama, cenotes, cenotes, cenotes!  Ready to experience a natural wonder?; You’ll be taking a ride on a mule drawn buggy through the lush grounds to three cenotes.  Cenotes are underground swimming holes filled with refreshing crystal clear water!  Cenotes are magical, enigmatic and unique in the world and were once the only resource for fresh, sweet water in the local Yucatecan jungle. They were the sacred places of the Maya for that reason, but also because they represented the entrance to the underworld.  The

Yucatan

Peninsula is a porous limestone shelf with no visible rivers; all the fresh water rivers are underground. Being porous, caverns and caves formed where the fresh water collects – hence the cenotes or water sink holes. The water that gathers in these subterranean cenotes is a crystal clear turquoise color with a very pleasant temperature of 78°’F.

It’s an experience you’ll not want to miss!  Paul and I went for a dip in a cenotes which was a refreshing experience!  Bring your bathing suit, a towel, snacks, and some refreshments!  Cuzama is 45 minutes from

Merida, 1.5 hours from the Hacienda. http://www.yucatantoday.com/destinations/eng-daytrip-cuzama.htm

You are also welcome to just relax but exploring the

Yucatan is a great experience!  Please let us know what adventure you choose so we can finalize arrangements!

Hugs and see you soon! vennie + paul

WEDDING REGISTRIES

Dear Family and Friends,

I trust this message finds you well!  We are at the two month count down mark and all I can say is “yikes!” (grin)…  The planning is coming down to the nitty gritty details and here is one of them that many have been requesting!

Please find below the three registries we are registered at:

1) William Sonoma… www.williamsonoma.com

2) MOMA Store… this is a pseudo registry so you will have to do some extra “work” if you order anything from the list.   Moma doesn’t have a true wedding registry so I created a “shopping cart” that you can log into, write down the item numbers, log out and create your own shopping cart to order.

Here are the steps:

a)  www.momastore.org

b) click on “my account” (upper right hand corner of screen)… username: lauvega;  password: merida07

c) click OK (if it tells you that our MOMA membership is about to expire, we know!)

d) ”My Account” will pop up on the screen which includes our mailing address

e)  click on “view cart” (upper right) and the list of items should appear, review, jot down the item number and then log-in on your own to purchase.  Do not click on an item while logged into the “lauvega” account.  Please have the items shipped to:  90 Columbia Terrace, apt#3; Weehawken, NJ  07086

3) Charity Registry at www.justgive.org;  We have selected four different charities that we feel are worthy causes and help make a difference in people’s lives.

 Happy Shopping!

See you in a couple of months!

Hugs,

vennie + paul

WELCOME TO OUR CELEBRATION

Dear Family and Friends… after seven years of dating, vennie + paul are getting married!  The wedding will be held in Merida, Mexico which is located in the Yucatan.  We found this quote of a traveler who had explored this area in the 1800’s.  We feel that this quote speaks in volumes about how we feel in sharing our special day with you in a very magical place.

“As a land chosen by travelers, Yucatan is rich with wonderful memories.  It addresses your heart, your soul, your imagination, your spirit.  You will find it impossible to leave it indifferently.”  Desire Charnay - A trip to Yucatan in 1860

This year is 2007 and we  hope that the spirit of the Yucatan will entice you to join us on this journey to create more wonderful memories on this great adventure.

As you know, the ceremony date is Sunday, November 11, 2007.  We have a “surprise” group activity planned for all day Saturday so please arrive the latest by Friday night!  In the categories, you will find information for “shelter”, “journey”, “Q&A”, “playtime”.  Please feel free to post questions so others can learn from your curiosity and wisdom.

Looking forward to seeing you all in November!

With much love,

vennie + paul
